What is RPM?
RPM is a method that empowers students to express their learning, understanding, reasoning and thoughts.

The teacher uses open learning channels (auditory, visual, tactile and kinesthetic) to access student learning. The teacher adapts lessons as needed.

RPM is an academic teaching method that can lead to communication.
The teacher uses a teach-ask format. This creates student interest and engagement. It also creates a rhythm to the lesson which increases attending. When teaching this way, it helps the students focus more on the lesson and less on stims, impulses & OCD.

Students respond by choosing written words or by spelling the answer. Different letter boards are used depending on the motor & attending skills of the student. Boards range from stencils to laminated.

As students gain skills, they choose how they would like to progress. Independence is the goal, if possible. That may mean holding the letter board, laying it flat on the table, transferring to a keyboard or iPad.
